Mohammed Yahya is a Rapper/ Spoken Word Artist who was forced to flee his native Mozambique, during the civil war. In Portugal, surrounded by poverty but inspired by the influence of his singer father, he began using music and poetry to positively channel his thoughts, energy and emotions.

Deeply involved in interfaith work, he helped start the 1st ever Muslim/Jewish Hip Hop collective in U.K. He is also the president of Speech for Peace, an Organization that aims to inspire all communities to engage constructively with one another and striving to uphold the values of social justice and human dignity beyond the barriers of religion, ethnicity and nationality.

Mohammed Yahya has delivered workshops and performances in Tower Hamlets including at the Brady Arts Centre, where he helped organise the Black History Month Launch Event last year. He is keen to strengthen his professional links with the borough.
