Support & organise festivals and Events
Tower Hamlets Council’s Arts and Events Team supports or organises approximately 100 festivals and events each year. We have developed a wide range of partnerships with voluntary, charitable, community and commercial organisations in order to help deliver a cultural programme that appeals to residents, commuters and visitors alike. Many events are free of charge, are either participatory or audience based and cut across a spectrum of artforms. Greenwich and Docklands International Festival and The East End Film Festival provide a plethora of high quality spectacles, performances and screenings. Key annual events such as Black History Month, Chinese New Year or Holocaust Memorial Day celebrate and reflect the culturally rich and diverse population of the borough and we cater to those of all ages with family events such as Boo! and Fireworks Night as well as Over 50s events such as the ever popular Christmas Tea Dance.
We are also the first port of call for those wanting to organise events in the borough's parks and open spaces whether arts based or not, and facilitate a range of other activities such as fun runs, carol singing and street parties.
